Reina James lost two grandparents to the 1918 Spanish flu, which is the subject of her first novel, This Time of Dying. This Time of Dying was short-listed for the Commonwealth Best First Book Prize 2007 and was described by The Times as 'a five-star weepie'. Her second novel, The Old Joke, is published this month. She lives with her husband in Sussex.
